NomadShift

A modular travel tool roll for motorcyclists, born from a study of Monte Amiata: every compartment can be removed and rearranged, then the whole kit rolls up and closes with quick-release Cobra buckles.

Scenario

On the Sienese side of Monte Amiata, new temporary inhabitants — remote workers, new rurals, seasonal workers — live the territory on the move. With public transport almost absent, private vehicles are the only way to get around. For those who ride by choice, the road is the experience itself: when a mechanical problem hits, the first instinct is to fix it on their own.

Concept

In Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, some riders refuse to touch their own bike and end up depending entirely on whoever repairs it. Nomad Shift turns that attitude around: it isn't made for those who postpone maintenance, but for those who want to be able to face it wherever they are — with a modular system that carries only the essentials.

Construction

Built like a sandwich

An outer leather shell joins an inner canvas lining, while a salpa core in between gives thickness and stiffness to the whole structure. The socket wrench sits at a fixed point on the outside: when the roll hangs from the handlebar, it spreads the weight like a pole holding a banner taut.

Modularity

One roll, many layouts

Riders don't just pick a pocket layout — they decide which tools to carry, adapting the kit to the trip and to their own needs. The roll doesn't offer one answer for everyone: it changes with whoever uses it.

Operation

Unroll, fix, roll up

Every compartment can be removed and rearranged. After use, the tools go back on the velcro bands and the whole kit rolls up, closing with quick-release Cobra buckles.
